The Best Men's Athletic Shorts to Workout in for 2020
My wife has been submerged in the athleisure culture for quite some time now. I’d say about 90% of her wardrobe is what you would classify as athleisure or activewear. Even more so since the pandemic hit back in March. And I totally understand it now. Why worry about multiple outfits for different activities and occasions when you can have one super comfortable and breathable outfit to cover it all?. In this blog post, I ditch my antiquated outlook on men’s fashion and dive into the world of athleisure as I search high and low for a pair of new workout shorts.
Most Comfortable Men's Workout Shorts: Lululemon Athletica Men's T.H.E Short
Lululemon is the OG when it comes to athleisure and their men’s T.H.E. Short don’t disappoint. Train hard every day (T.H.E.) in these unbelievably comfortable athletic shorts constructed of lightweight, sweat wicking material with 4-way stretch. Need a little more support? Go with the version that comes with a compression liner. Not a fan of shorts that fall past the knee? Not a problem, choose from three different inseam sizes: 7”, 9” and 11”.
Right now, they go for $68 and you can find more info here.
Best Outdoor Men's Workout Shorts: Rhone Men's Mako Shorts
Rhone is a brand I wasn’t familiar with until I set out on this journey to find the best men’s gym shorts, but now I am obsessed. Check out their Mako shorts. While the features are somewhat similar to Lululemon’s T.H.E. Shorts, I have found that they do a much better job of wicking the sweat away and their zip-up pocket keeps my nether region secure. They also come with the option of adding a liner, but Rhone’s liner has built-in anti-odor technology to eliminate some of that stank.
Depending on size or color, they are priced at $68-$78. You can find them on amazon here.
Most Versatile Men's Workout Shorts: Birddogs Men's Gym Shorts
If you are looking for a pair of shorts that does it all, look no further than the Birddogs Men’s Athletic Shorts. They are technically billed as gym shorts but can also be a bathing suit or even a nice casual short for the golf course or Sunday brunch if you go with a solid, more traditional color. Birddogs also come with a liner, or as they call it, built-in underwear. Their liner provides much more compression and support than the other brands I mentioned and the lightweight, sweat-wicking fabric does an excellent job keeping you cool and dry throughout the day. Go ahead. Ditch your favorite pair of shorts and replace them with these. You won’t be sorry.
The Birddogs are currently priced at $59.95 and come in a bunch of styles and colors. Check them out here.
